October Books loves Harbour Lights!
October Books has recently been working with students from Southampton University’s Student Innovation Programme to help us update our Environmental Strategy and Action Plan. Two teams of students worked on the project over a period to 4 or 5 weeks in October and November, one team focusing on staff training and awareness raising, waste management, our products and transportation and the other team on our internal processes, community opportunities, the buildings and green space aspects of the business.
Looking for things to do with the children these winter holidays, or perhaps you are a fan of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and would like to relive the story? If so, the head along to the Narnia-inspired Christmas trail in Bitterne Park and St Denys from the 11th December.
Call all OB Members!! We have lots of exciting news to share with you, our members, and we would love to see you at our online Members meeting at the end of October.
Disability Awareness Day is a pan disability event and day which promotes a can do culture focusing on what disabled people can do throughout life and work
We've seen some creative use of the shop space and Community Space recently. An OB member used October Books as the venue to discuss the upcoming Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill with local politicians, to urge the UK government to act after declaring a climate emergency back in 2019.
If you'd like to use the space for something similar - get in touch!
We have some other climate emergency events coming up too…
We’re looking for a creative person, or people to help us run a workshop recycling paper packaging.
October Books has recently been lucky enough to participate in a research project all about Volunteering in Community Business.
