Volunteering with October Books

We wouldn’t be here without volunteers. Volunteers play a pivotal role in the operation of October Books and we are always looking for people to help out in various capacities across the business. Currently we have the following vacancies:

1) Shop Volunteer: serving the customers on the till, dealing with customer enquiries and book orders, handling money/payments.
Skills required: excellent customer service, good computer literacy, attention to detail, good with task management, being able to self manage (after full training), being able to deal with a variety of requests at one time

Shift Requirements; 3 hours - there are vacancies for most days of the week either in the morning or afternoon, there are several positions

2) Greeting Cards Volunteer: pricing of cards and filling up gaps on the display spinners.
Skills required: Attention to detail, basic numeracy skills, reliability 

Shift Requirements: 3 hours either morning or afternoon during the week - there are two positions

3) Food Volunteer: food pricing/putting out stock: unpacking weekly stock delivery, checking them in as per invoice, pricing them up and putting them out on display.
Skills required: attention to detail, basic numeracy, reliability

Shift Requirements: Friday Mornings 3 hours

4) Data analysis Volunteer: Finance data analysis
Skills required: competency with excel spreadsheets, finance, numbers

Shift Requirements: 2 to 3 hours Monday/Tuesday Thursday but could do work from home once trained

5) Cleaning Volunteer: cleaning the shop including vacuuming, dusting and tidying shelves etc.
Skills required: use of vacuum cleaner, clean to a good standard, familiar with green cleaning products

Shift Requirements: 1 hour a week Mondays between 9am and 10 am.
