In store now! The Starmer Project: A journey to the Right by Oliver Eagleton

In the wake of Starmer’s alarming anti-trans statements this past week, we felt it pertinent to remind customers of this excellent expose by NLR writer Oliver Eagleton. Exploring Starmer’s past, his manifesto, and his political ambitions, Eagleton paints a frightening portrait of a labour disconnected from its own past, electorate, and core ideology. A must read.

The Starmer Project: A journey to the Right by Oliver Eagleton

Paperback £12.99

The Labour Party has virtually disappeared from view under the leadership of Keir Starmer. Hailed as a human-rights champion and political outsider, what sort of politician is he really, and what mark is he making on the new politics of Labour?

In The Starmer Project, Oliver Eagleton provides a careful reading of Starmer's record at the Crown Prosecution Service and as a member of Jeremy Corbyn's Shadow Cabinet, tracing the political alliances he forged and the roots of his bid for the Party leadership.

Starmer originally pledged to revitalise Corbynism with a dose of lawyerly competence. To understand what happened afterwards it is necessary to understand the man himself. So little remains known about Starmer that his actions are usually interpreted as overtures to others. On closer inspection, however, he is anything but an empty political vessel.

We are open:

Monday - Saturday

10am - 5.30 pm

We are back open six days a week, with the whole store open for browsing. We will still of course be taking customer orders and you will still be able to buy food and cleaning products online through our online store.

We are able to be open 6 days a week again because of your consideration and care whilst in the shop. Though things are opening up, covid cases are still high and a lot of our staff have only received one jab. So we are asking customers to continue to leave that extra space, sanitise their hands and pull on their mask. We really appreciate it.
