Love your local!

Here at October Books we like to champion all things ‘local’.

From stocking books by local authors, to hosting local creatives’ art and crafts in the shop, to the collaboration with Made In: Here bringing Portswood High Street to your door during lockdown, to Zoom events sharing knowledge about local history, to community discussion groups. There’s so much to shine a light on and be proud of here in Southampton, and your local high street needs you now more than ever.

The latest addition to our shelves are these gorgeous postcards by local artist O Gordon celebrating our friends The Bookshop Alehouse. We love em!

We’re not the only bookshop in Portswood you know… If you’ve not been introduced The Bookshop Alehouse - they’re situated down the road at 21 Portswood Rd and they’re a pub in a bookshop! Stocking ales from local brewers and the finest national and international beers they can lay their hands on, they also have a cracking ever-changing selection of secondhand titles for you to purchase whilst you’re sipping your beer.

We’re delighted to have these postcards for sale here at OB. If you buy one you’ll be supporting us, supporting them, and supporting a great local artist all in one go. Which will make you a veritable local superhero!

Love your local!
