Our Annual Gathering of Members (AGM)
October Books AGM was held on Monday 27th November with around 30 of our members attending both online and in person. The team shared the highlights of the year, presented our annual accounts, as well as background information on finances, and shared our thoughts and feelings on our current status.
We are going through many changes at present and, in order to ensure the health and wellbeing of the team, we need to start to think about how we do things differently. We have talked about October Books as a tree, with long roots into our community and with a wonderfully rich and diverse canopy with many branches. However, after three of our key team members left us this year, we realise that we cannot continue to maintain all the leaves and branches and that we need to think about wintering and pruning our tree.
We don’t have answers yet as to what is evergreen activity, what might be more seasonal activity and what might be pruned. What we do know is that we want to continue to provide the personal customer service and welcome that we are known for in our community and that we want to represent our members and our customers needs in these uncertain times. So, please do bear with us while we make these changes and allow a new way of operating to emerge.
Thank you for your continued support and do ask all your friends and family to shop local this Christmas.
