Books for funding City Farm

Books for funding City Farm

We are really pleased to let you know that we will be donating £100 to Southampton’s City Farm to help them keep going while there are no visitors to the site. Part of Oasis, a national charity focused on “transforming communities”, The City Farm tends around 1.2 hectares of workable land alongside a community  and other buildings in Green Lane in Maybush.  The land is mostly devoted to grazing areas for the animals, with a horticultural area at the western end of the site where the farm is  aiming to grow a diverse crop to feed the animals and begin to provide ingredients for the kitchen.

The money has been raised from the sale of nearly 100 nature books which were donated to us by one of our customers. With books on everything from badgers to bats and dormice to dragonflies the whole collection was bought by another of our regular customers. A small amount of the funds came to us to cover some of our costs and then the rest, we are donating to City Farm.
