In store now! The Every, by Dave Eggers

From the best selling author of A Hologram for the King and A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, comes the sequel to his best-selling novel The Circle. After the tech/social media giant at the heart of The Circle merges with an Amazon-like e-commerce site, emerges the largest, and most beloved monopoly in human history: The Every.

Following a former forest-park ranger who is attempting to take down the company from the inside, The Every is about the damage companies like Amazon and Facebook are doing both to the environment, and to societal cohesion. Blending Eggers’ trademark wry irony and humour with the structural terror of Kafka and Borges, The Every is an important novel about the here and now.

The Every by Dave Eggers

Paperback £12.99

The electrifying follow-up to Dave Eggers' New York Times Bestseller The Circle

When the world's largest search engine / social media company merges with the planet's dominant e-commerce site, it creates the richest and most dangerous-and, oddly enough, most beloved-monopoly ever known: The Every.

Delaney Wells is an unlikely new hire. A former forest ranger and unwavering tech skeptic, she charms her way into an entry-level job with one goal in mind: to take down the company from within. With her compatriot, the not-at-all-ambitious Wes Makazian, they look for the company's weaknesses, hoping to free humanity from all-encompassing surveillance and the emoji-driven infantilization of the species. But does anyone want what Delaney is fighting to save? Does humanity truly want to be free?

Studded with unforgettable characters and lacerating set-pieces, The Every blends satire and terror, while keeping the reader in breathless suspense about the fate of the company - and the human animal.

10am - 5.30 pm

We are back open six days a week, with the whole store open for browsing. We will still of course be taking customer orders and you will still be able to buy food and cleaning products online through our online store.

We are able to be open 6 days a week again because of your consideration and care whilst in the shop. Though things are opening up, covid cases are still high and a lot of our staff have only received one jab. So we are asking customers to continue to leave that extra space, sanitise their hands and pull on their mask. We really appreciate it.
