Name: Alex (they/them)

Role: Operations Team Member – I'm who you see when you come into the shop. I order books, arrange book displays, as well as help customers.

Your OB Story: I only moved to Portswood in July, and before this had only heard about October Books from my housemate who grew up in Southampton. It seemed like the kind of place that matched with my ethical principles, so I was very excited to move here! I heard about the job through the website when looking at the events they had going on. I was so thrilled when I was offered the job!

Passionate About: I am incredibly passionate about psychology, especially Forensic Psychology. I have just finished my BSc Psychology degree, and I am currently studying MSc Forensic Psychology. I am particularly passionate about victim advocacy within the legal system.

Recommends: This Is Vegan Propaganda (and Other Lies the Meat Industry Tells You) by Ed Winters. As a long term vegan this book is a must-read. In relation to this, I also recommend the Veg Out cafe we host every Monday!
