Time for an update..
We have been continuing to build relationships with local schools and have enjoyed visits from Sinclair Primary School and Bitterne Park Primary School. Our book buying working group is still expanding and have been curating a fantastic selection of books for the shop. Having made the decision to scale back the number of our events, the ones we have held during the last few months have been a success, with our ‘We Can Learn to’ workshops proving very popular.
The relaunch of the shop has been great, not only for the team to spend time planning, rearranging, and organising the space for our customers to improve their browsing and shopping experience, but also to have shared our evening soiree with everyone who came along to support us. We have received some lovely feedback, so thank you.
With all the positives over the last few months, we are still facing some challenging months ahead. However, keeping with a positive vibe we are putting plans in place to forge forward with ideas to accelerate book sales and the growth of the shop to enable us to be sustainable and to flourish in the heart of Portswood.
One of our ideas is to rent out some of our shelves to local makers and businesses (this has been trialled very successfully with one local business). We would also like to have a rolling display of art work from local artists to sell. If you are interested in either opportunity please do get in touch with us at info@octoberbooks.org.
Your support, as always, is so important to us.
How can you support us? Buy your books from us, come and buy the perfect gift for family and friends, take part in events, use bookshop.org to have books delivered to your door, hire our community space and continue to recommend us to family and friends!
