Revolution in a bookshop podcast

Revolution in a bookshop podcast

We are really excited and proud to share with you a podcast all about October Books. Recorded recently as part of the Power to Change, Then One Day… series. Clare, Jamie, Glyn and Bobby all contributed, telling the story of the shop from the early radical and revolutionary roots in Bevois Valley through to the purchase of our own premises, the Human Chain and current ways we are adapting in these uncertain times.

Veronica Gordon, of Southampton based Our Version Media, and who interviewed us all, was really excited to be doing a podcast on a business in her home town. She had known about the bookshop as a child but had never ventured in. Veronica worked with Anna Sinnfield at Pixu to weave together and produce the story and we are very grateful for their enthusiasm and making this such an easy and enjoyable process.

So, make yourself a cuppa (or pour a glass of something stronger) sit back, listen and enjoy by CLICKING HERE!

If, having listened to the podcast, you remember an inspiring story from the old shop, or have a picture or contact with any of the past workers and customers…. Please do let us know and we will look at putting together an event to get everyone together.

Note: Power to Change have provided the funding for the Community Business Trade Up (CBTU) programme that Clare has been on in the last year. The programme has been a huge help to Clare and the team during this challenging year, not only helping financially but also providing support, training and guidance in all aspects of community business. A big thank you to them for making this podcast possible.
